Born in Paris in 1972, Ambroise graduated from the Applied Arts School of Vevey, Switerland in 1994. First based in London and then in Paris he gave up photojournalism in 2001 to devote his time to the creation of a personnal work on landscapes.
His book « Beijing, theatre of the people » witnessing the changes happening in Beijing before hosting the Olympics, won the Leica European Publisher’s Award in 2006. The work produced from 2001 to 2005 was exhibited at many venues including the Kunsthal Museum in Rotterdam and the Arles Photography Festival. It was published in five languages ans is now in its second edition.
His work appears regularly in the New York Times Magazine and is held in the Bibliothèque Nationale de France public collection. In 2009 he won the Nikon Story teller Award at the PDN Photography Annual for his photographs of Cuba commissionned by the New York Times Magazine.
Ambroise is represented by Galerie Philippe Chaume (Paris), Young Gallery (Brussels) and Paris-Beijing Photo Gallery (Beijing).
